A red supergiant, 25 solar masses. Present in template imaging taken 47 nights prior. No progenitor of an explosion. No brightening. No supernova signature in any band. The star is being monitored.
The alert fires because something is absent.
Not because it exploded.
Not because it faded.
Because where there was a star,
there is now only the coordinates
of where a star was.
